Bill Macaulay exemplifies passion for big and small clients at Smythe Ratcliffe. His practice has consciously gravitated towards owner-managers and individuals over recent years, but he still enjoys working with corporate clients of all sizes. Specializing in tax consulting since 1981, he has advised businesses involved in a wide variety of endeavours including the hotel industry and real estate development. Bill was one of the first tax consultants in Vancouver to work extensively with high technology clients and gained extensive experience in tax planning for the sale of businesses. The biggest reward for Bill is guiding clients through challenging opportunities and transactions that result in a significant positive impact on their lifestyle and career satisfaction.

In 2006 and early 2007, Bill was invited to speak at PKF conferences in Boston and Houston on tax planning for expanding business into Canada.
