Balance
At Smythe Ratcliffe we value a balanced lifestyle. Our people are the most important part of our business and we are always looking for ways to improve the well-being of our staff.
Whether it is our Wellness Fund supporting Firm fitness, healthy snacks throughout the year, our committees who provide events and community projects for staff to enjoy, or our groups to build leadership skills such as Toastmasters or our Book Club – we make our people our priority!
Toastmasters – The Public Speaking Advantage
2012 is the fourth year that our Firm has been participating in Toastmasters. With over 260,000 members around the globe Toastmasters is a world leader in improving communication, leadership skills and helping people find the courage to grow as individuals.
At Smythe Ratcliffe we are constantly exploring the boundaries of communication and speech within our very own club. By covering the cost of membership and hosting weekly meetings, we are proud to offer our staff an opportunity to develop the skills necessary for public speaking, as well as giving them the foundation for outstanding client communication.
With Public Speaking comes Professional Confidence
Toastmasters encourages professional development by:
- Increasing your self-confidence
- Allowing for more effective communication and feedback
- Helping you become a better speaker
- Helping you become a better listener
- Improving your presentation skills
- Encouraging you to reach your personal and professional goals while igniting your career
Book Club – Read to Succeed
Smythe Ratcliffe is proud to have established a professional Book Club in 2010!
Our Firm recognizes that expanding employee knowledge of business through reading and professional discussion can help to advance leadership and business development skills. By exploring leading edge business practices, strategies, client service issues and other topics in business, our team is inspired to implement new ideas and improve their career and our clients’ businesses.
We believe that participating in reading group discussion does wonders for employee relations and communication skills. Communication improves as our employees learn to listen to different viewpoints and ways of expression, as well as involving themselves in constructive debates!
